As long as we feel a level of excitement in playing PC games and are highly depending on it for pleasuable effects then we are definately hooked by the digital drug. :)
At a serious note, it is not a good thing indeed. Perhaps the most disturbing values that computer games could breed is ill-discipline. Ill-discipline or lack of discipline is a reason for procastination. Procastination is this case is when we decided to forgo the urgent task that is indeed a priority over our computer games. . It can be a pleasurable experience to keep on playing and hence develop a habit of saying stuff like.. "oh i will do it later" or "how about tomorrow". But it does have serious effects in time to come. That massive pleasure will turn into massive pain in the long run. It is when gamers encountered that works not being done on time, grades falling, unproductivity and etc.
So if you think procastination is not something serious, then think again.
These bad values in my point of view only affect you if u are too deeply submerged or hooked into the game itself. Computer games are being blamed by the society for breeding bad values to the people. But i beg to differ, how can we make conclusions by only looking at the few numbers of people who has ruined the image and say that it is breeding bad values. If that is the case, can we say that a country is "bad" if there are prisoners in their prison, can we? Just try asking a healthy person who plays computer games to compare between virtual and reality and i will assure you they will be able to diffrenciate. Try asking them whether they would imitate the violence in reality and their answer wil surely be no. These troubled people has problem in reality such as family, friends problems and they can only blame on computer games after they has done their mistakes. computer games does not breed bad value to a person, it is only an alternative reason to blame at for someone's mistake.
Computer games can breed bad values and can breed good values at the same time. It depends on the person him or herself. If the person gets hook on the computer games then it does breed bad values. For now we shall look at the bad values that computer games breeds. Firstly, the player becomes an addict to the game. Thus making the person relying too much on the game. Second,it cultivates bad habits such as becoming too lazy to do anything else other than play computer games. Imagine becoming too lazy to clean up your room for months. Your room will definitely look like a pig sty in a few months time. Now we shall look at the good values that computer games breed. Firstly, it promotes teamwork when you play games such as warcraft. Secondly, let us destress when we become stress up. Overall, I feel that it depends on the person playing the computer games itself. It's the person who breeds bad values and not the computer games.
i personally does not think that computer games will breed bad values. yes we will do feel emo while we are playing computer games but i really up to the user to control his emotion feelings after the game.
I agree and disagree that computer games breed bad values. Why?
Agreeing that statement was because they are breeding bad values such as violence and keep delaying important stuffs.Such games are like 'addictions'.That can lead to grade falling and not a lot of people noticed it,which is slowing your IQ(Intelligence Quotient).
Disagreeing that statement was because some games teaches us to be more logic thinking, accuracy and be strategic. To be honest,me myself tend to play long hours, especially when exams are around the corner. Why?Because I have done my work and revision,so by playing games,i get to release my stress.
Even if computer games are breeding bad values, we, as "representatives" of youths, ourselves are hooked. I can safely say half of our great class is, if not dotA-ing or cm-ing, are studying. Aren't we?
Anyway, the original idea of games are either to destress and relieve or to teach morals. To stereotype computer games as a general is what I believe to be a wrong idea. There are indeed games that do breed bad values, but are all computer games as such? Even so, do we get hooked to the bad values OR the game itself?
There's a certain degree of how computer games breed bad values. It also have its positive values too.
Computer games allows people to develop negative habits such as laziness and short of self-control towards other important things such as studies. We tend to get obsessed into our game and ignore tasks that needs our main concern. Like what Ali mentioned, we develop a habit of saying things such as "oh i will do it later".
Playing games develop positive habits too. It trains the active mind to be more creative and open to new challenges. It helps to relieve stress too. Its certainly a better way to relieve stress rather than smoking and consuming drugs. Therefore computer games does not always breed bad values.
Two words, Self-Control. Practice it and you'll be fine. I believe all the good and bad effects of playing too much computer games have been listed down by the rest so theres no need to eleborate further.
I personally feel that for this topic, the age of the person should matter.
I mean, most people in their 20s would certainly know how to distinguish between the good and bad values that computer games may have inadvertently put across while trying to increase the popularity of the game.
On the other hand, if it was someone below the ages of about 20s, they may adopt some of the values be it good or bad, thinking of it as a fad.
Well, like most, I think, that most of the values put across by computer games would truly affect someone negatively if they are completely submerged in the game to the point of addiction.
In my opinion, computer games do breed bad values, like violence , vulgar languages and others. We can play, but we should not allow ourselves to be obsessed with computer games.
Due to my own experience,I has started playing computer games since I was 14 years old.I frequently go lan shop with my friends(also had spent a lot of money):)The outcome is none of us are addicted or deeply submerged to it.Why?It is because we are clearly and throughly know that the game we are playing is only a way to destress ourselves, enhance friendship and that is a virtual world, not reality.
Of course,we still have to admit that certain computer games breed bad values but those bad values are only reflected in those peoples who are unable or lack of ability to justify and differentiate between virtual and reality.
So,do computer games breed bad values?I think it's a matter of opinion whether it really breeds bad values and directly causes procrastination.
Personally,i think that computer games are just a form of entertainment for a short span of time. It gives us absolute pleasure and it also gives us something to talk about when we are with our friends. However, great fun to me comes with great price to pay and that is how i feel it is. Many of us are so immersed with computer games till that we can just forget the things that are happening around us. For example, My mum needs my help urgently, but i can actually ignore her totally and continue with my game. Such example simply shows that such GAMES are just taking most of our lives away and injecting us with many sort of bad habits etc.

playing too much computer game can turn hardworking student to lazy student.

I think majority of us love playing computer games.
Computer games makes me to feel less stress when the examination is around the corner.
Games like "Warcraft3: Dota-All stars" boost our creativity and trains our minds to be analitical. We can also socialise more which is a good thing.
It depends on the individual. If a person knows how to priotise his task , then i should say computer games is not a bad value after all.
